The New Jersey First Steps Infant/Toddler Initiative was created to assist early educators in offering the very best possible care for New Jersey’s youngest citizens. Three regional agencies, Programs for Parents, Inc. (northern), Community Coordinated Child Care of Union County (central), and the Southern Regional Child Care Resource Center, EIRC (southern) will serve as lead agencies for the 16 child care resource and referral agencies across the state. The agencies will employ Infant/Toddler Specialists who will partner with early care providers and their directors, by providing professional development, technical assistance, consultation services, program assessment and resources.
NJ First Steps Director’s Track will be held from 10:30AM – 1:30PM on Wednesdays, starting April 10th through June 5th.
THIS NINE-SESSION SERIES COMBINES THE RELATIONSHIP-BASED TRAINING FORMAT OF THE PROGRAM FOR INFANT TODDLER CARE, (PITC) AND ALIGNS IT WITH THE "GOOD TO EXCELLENT" COMPONENTS OF THE INFANT TODDLER ENVIRONMENTAL RATING SCALE-REVISED (ITERS-R).
DIRECTORS OF INFANT TODDLER PROGRAMS WILL EXPLORE THE IMPORTANCE OF BEST PRACTICE FOR VERY YOUNG CHILDREN AND HOW TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN HIGH QUALITY IN THEIR INFANT TODDLER ENVIRONMENTS. THE REVISED EDITION OF THE ITERS AS WELL AS THE GUIDE, ALL ABOUT THE ITERS-R, ARE TOOLS PROVIDED FOR THIS SERIES TO HELP DIRECTORS PRACTICE ASSESSING AND SCORING ALL THE QUALITY ELEMENTS OF CARE.
